The great pleasure of what we do is to help people.  We love to  discover and develop new ways of teaching to help more and more people improve their English speaking.  Through this, people leap to better jobs and careers, better social communication.  More fulfilling lives.

Now I am delighted to share with you the project we have been working on for over 18 months.  We have been preparing a new product for you, a new mode and service of learning, a subscription based program for Clear Talk.  Yay!

I will explain a little about our Subscription which we will release early in 2015.

What is this new Subscription way of training for clear American English speech?

When you sign up for the Clear Talk Subscription, you get a new lesson each week.  You get four kinds of training lessons each week – video, audio, written lesson, and study guide.  You can do the lessons over and over, as many times as you wish.  Because it is internet, you can do training any time day or night.

Who can do Clear Talk Subscription?  The answer: People who have never done a course with us, for systematic learning.  And people who have taken a coached course with us and want to renew and make their skills better.

Yes, yes.  More details to come!

How Your Comfort Zone Gets in the Way of Making Contact with Other People

How Your Comfort Zone Gets in the Way of Making Contact with Other People

Notice your comfort zone:

  • Are you comfortable or at ease making conversation with someone you don’t know at a convention or conference?
  • Do you avoid making eye contact with people in elevators and airplanes?
  • Can you respond easily when someone tries to include you in a conversation?

Talk Magnets communicate so that other people feel comfortable and start and blossom seeds of relationships built on rapport.

The relationship is the foundation of social and work life.

Talk magnets will notice what surrounds another person, say a picture of an ocean setting, and start a conversation.  When they stumble on a topic of importance to the other person, they are willing to pursue it and reveal about themselves.  When you reveal things about yourself,  experiences, viewpoints, desires, you give the other person something they can respond to.

Talk Magnets listen to others and get to know them.  In the work place, that is how they get to know how to meet their needs.

Talk Magnets go out of their way to make people feel comfortable.  My brother wears a tie with little children on it.   The tie is eye-catching and fun.  It lets people know they can approach him and gives them something to talk about.

Women can invite people’s conversation with anything that is fun, unusual—a pin, earrings, bright scarf.  When we see someone with something unusual or fun, we know they are inviting conversation and it is okay to comment.

Conversational T-shirts are ice-breakers  We wear our opinions, ideas, and commitments across our chests.  We get them as gifts or  as “part of the event.”  In either case, they give others something to talk about.  I have friends who wear ones from art museums, music venues, amusement parks, and national parks.

Networking and Conversations

Networking and Conversations

Networking takes place during conversation.  Opportunities for conversations exist all around you – on airplanes, on elevators, in grocery store lines, at sporting events, conferences, and workshops.

Wherever people are, conversation is possible.

Anytime there is conversation, networking, or making connections and building relationships, is possible.

Conversation happens because some person takes the initiative to reach out, make contact, and generate an interaction or dialogue.

Opportunities are endless.  What gets in the way? People have a comfort zone that gets in the way of making contact and relationships with other people

Have you noticed how some people make it easy to make conversation?  You could call them Talk Magnets.  They help other people open up and converse in a lovely way.

What do these people do?

Talk Magnets use certain magic phrases over and over, and always with sincerity and genuine connection.

  • “Please.”
  • “I have confidence you can do this.”
  • “How may I help?”
  • “How are you doing?”
  • “Good idea.”
  • “May I?”
  • “Thank you.”
  • “Oops. I forgot.”
  • “Wow! That’s fantastic.”
  • “No problem.”
  • “Your tie is great.”
  • “Excuse me.”
  • “Would it work for you.”
  • “I’m proud of you.”
  • “So sorry.” Or “I do apologize.”
  • “I’d be happy to.”
  • “Would you be so kind as to return my call?”
  • “Congratulations on your project.”
  • “No, thank you.”
  • “Good morning.”
  • “It’s my pleasure.”
  • “How are you?” (and listen and see and hear the answer)
  • “I could use your help.”
  • “Great job.”
  • “Nice presentation!”
  • “How did it go?”
  • “You must be pleased (happy, proud).”

Powerful words. Magic words that show courtesy, respect, and consideration for others.

We people strive to work harder, better, smarter.  Research indicates that what people really want is to be acknowledged and feel appreciated.

Make these phrases a habit.
